Whitbeck Blames Poor Leadership for New Toll Hikes

Leesburg, VA- John Whitbeck, candidate for Chair of Loudoun’s Board of Supervisors, issued the following statement regarding Chair Phyllis Randall’s poor leadership on the issue of Greenway toll increases:

“Time and time again, Chair Phyllis Randall has shown that she stands with the Greenway on the issue of higher tolls rather than Loudoun drivers,” said Whitbeck. “About a month ago, Randall was the lone Supervisor to side with the Greenway in a deal that would have guaranteed annual toll increases through 2056. Last week, she failed to make any public statement on a General Assembly bill that would have increased oversight on Greenway toll increase. And this week, Greenway users are facing another toll hike.”

“I am running put the interest of Loudoun’s commuters first,” said Whitbeck. “Loudoun deserves and needs better leadership than this.”

Whitbeck has advocated for oversight on Greenway toll hikes, lower tolls, and Greenway alternatives.
