Strike the Balance between Development and Preservation

Leesburg, VA- In conjunction with debates regarding the comprehensive plan, John Whitbeck, candidate for Chair of Loudoun’s Board of Supervisors, released a new ad today focused on “striking the balance” between responsible development and preservation.

In the ad, Whitbeck says that he supports a development strategy that puts infrastructure first, preserves our natural, historic assets and open space, and provides for attainable housing for our teachers, first responders, and county employees.

“We can meet our needs and grow, but if we fail to put quality of life first, and strike a balance between responsible development and the preservation of our way of life, we will jeopardize the future of our great county,” said Whitbeck. An attorney and small business owner, Whitbeck moved to Loudoun to an Affordable Dwelling Unit in Sterling almost 20 years ago.

“Something is wrong when less than 2% of our land is public parks, our commuters face long commutes and high tolls, and our county employees sometimes can’t even live in the community they serve,” said Whitbeck.

Whitbeck has focused his campaign on quality of life issues like tolls, taxes, school safety, mental health, and more.
